Address Part of the Society Hill neighborhood, Philadelphia, PA This historic park used to be used as a potter’s field—a place to bury the unknown or poor—for most of the 18th century, then as a burial ground for the unknown soldiers of the Revolutionary War. The square was later turned into a city park where the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier serves as a memorial to the fallen heroes of the American Revolution that were buried in that park.
